“He reckoned all the jam-making and knitting was basically a front for a load of respectable middle aged women to get together and go nuts.”
Lawrence Sugden, to the women of the WI, Calendar Girls.
If you have been near the Milton CWA Hall in recent weeks, you may have heard raucous laughter spilling out from behind the closed doors of the Follies rehearsals for their November production of Calendar Girls.
While hard at work learning their lines and remembering their props, the cast and crew continue to find moments of hilarity in this heart-warming play of love, loss and fundraising. One wonders whether Lawrence’s quote could equally be applied to the Follies team bringing this show to life. And that’s before the clothes come off!
With Di Falloon ably returning to her Director’s chair, Follies has been delighted to welcome newcomer Allan Dean to the role of Producer. With the script calling for a “boy band diorama made out of pine cones”, we are also delighted to welcome the fabulously talented Jann Dean to the role of Props Manager, and are always excited to see what she brings in next.
Jennifer Sach brings a wealth of practical experience to the role of Backstage Manager, and we are excited to welcome back Renee Morgan as Makeup Artist. With Ash Howes as Costume Manager, and the hard working Steve Sayers managing the Front of House Team, Follies is confident that this production is in brilliant hands.
